![]() ![]() At the moment i have disabled the device and the computer has yet to freeze so i do think that is the issue. When i checked the driver is from 2006 and a generic windows one but i am unable to find any proper ones for this device. On the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s Web site. I emailed acer before i narrowed the issue to the DVDROM and they have just told me to do a system restore, i have no idea why and to what end but i dont think thats the answer to the issue im having. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. Looking into this again it tells me its the DVDROM i look and there are ALOT of issues with it relating to vista to changing the registry, but these are the same for windows 7. ![]() Looking into it further the error is in the atapi so the error logs tell me. All went fine, but a few days after wards the computers started freezing randomly, for about 20/30 seconds, i looked online it told me it might be the anti virus, uninstalled avg, that worked for a few days, and installed avast the freezing issue came back, uninstalled avast. I have recently installed Windows 7 onto my Acer 5920. ![]()
